We are a temporary shelter providing HOPE and a safe environment for families, children, and women that experience homelessness as they regain confidence, rebuild their lives, learn the essential skills to break the pattern of homelessness and gain the stability to thrive.

Are you currently homeless or at risk of being homeless? For information on finding assistance with housing, food, utilities, or shelter, please call 2-1-1. They will connect you to agencies and resources in your area where you can find help.

The Operation HOPE – North County provides temporary shelter to homeless families with children and single women. We are a 90-day shelter located in Vista, CA.

In order to be considered for admission, potential clients must complete this brief Pre-Screening Form, either over the phone or online. Our intake staff will then review your initial information. If you meet the eligibility criteria and a bed is available, we will contact you to schedule a full intake appointment. The full intake appointment will require applicants pass an pre-admission drug test. Please be advised a clean drug test is required (medical marijuana not accepted) for admission to the shelter.

Our Admission Criteria:

  • Must have some form of photo ID
  • No single adult males over the age of 18 without children admitted
  • No registered sex offenders
  • No individual who tests positive for drugs and alcohol, you must be sober and drug free
  • Must be able to attend evening OHNC classes/groups, curfew is 5:15pm ~ 7 days week.
  • Must be a either a single woman (no children) or a man or women with child/children to qualify
  • Must be willing to:
    • find employment
    • save at least 30% of your income
    • develop your own personalized case management goals and work to achieve them
    • attend weekly meetings with you case manager
    • commit to evening classes Monday to Thursday evening including learning how to manage your finances, parenting classes, and other topics
    • Must be willing to enroll your children in either school or day care within two weeks of your shelter enrollment (following all California state vaccine guidelines)
    • Must be willing to complete chores, daily
    • Comply with all shelter policies and procedures

If you are eligible but no beds are currently available, staff will place you on the Operation Hope – North County Wait List.
